Why Can't I Find My TikTok RTMP Stream Key?

Why Can't I Find My TikTok RTMP Stream Key?

Short answer: TikTok doesn't give RTMP access to every account. If you can go live in the TikTok app but see no Server URL or stream key option, your account hasn't been granted RTMP access yet — and nothing in Castream can unlock it. Read on for the details and your options.

This is one of the most common points of confusion for multistreamers. You connect YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook in minutes, then get to TikTok and the stream key simply isn't there. Here's what's going on.

TikTok treats RTMP as a separate permission

Being able to go LIVE in the TikTok mobile app and being able to stream via RTMP are two different things. RTMP access — the Server URL + stream key pair that tools like Castream and OBS need — is granted to a subset of accounts, and TikTok doesn't publish the exact criteria.

Accounts that tend to have it:

  • Are 18 or older (this one is hard-required for LIVE at all)
  • Have LIVE access already working in the app
  • Are in good standing — no recent violations or restrictions
  • Are in a region where TikTok has rolled out desktop/RTMP streaming

If any of those don't apply, the stream key option likely won't appear no matter where you look.

Where the option lives (if you have it)

When your account does have RTMP access, you'll find it in TikTok's LIVE setup area under labels like Stream key, Go LIVE from desktop, Cast to PC/Mac, LIVE Center, or Streaming software. TikTok moves these labels around, so check every submenu in the LIVE setup flow before concluding it's missing.

Also make sure your TikTok app is fully updated — on older versions the RTMP options sometimes don't render at all.

What to do if you don't have access

Keep checking back. TikTok expands RTMP access over time, and accounts gain it without any announcement. If you go live regularly and keep your account in good standing, the option often appears eventually.

Don't fall for "unlock" tricks. There is no legitimate third-party tool, setting, or hack that grants RTMP access — and sketchy workarounds risk your account. If someone is selling access, walk away.

Multistream everywhere else in the meantime. You can run your full multistream through Castream to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook Pages, and Instagram while going live natively inside the TikTok app on a second device. It's not as elegant as one-tap multistreaming, but your TikTok audience still gets the live show. See the mobile multistreaming guide for the full setup.

Once the option appears

The moment you see a Server URL and stream key in TikTok, grab them and follow the TikTok RTMP setup guide: paste both into Settings → Destinations → TikTok in the Castream app, save, and toggle TikTok on before you go live. One heads-up for later: TikTok keys can expire between sessions, so if TikTok ever refuses to connect, regenerating the key is always step one — covered in TikTok Stream Key Not Working?
