πŸ”— How to Connect Facebook

  1. From the Choose Destinations screen or Settings β†’ Destinations, tap Facebook or Facebook Pages
  1. Log in with your Facebook account when prompted
  1. Approve the permissions Castream requests
Β
βœ… Once connected, you’ll see Facebook or Facebook Pages listed in your destinations. You can toggle it ON before starting any stream.
If you manage multiple Facebook Pages, you'll be prompted to select one as your default. Currently, Castream supports streaming to one Page at a time.

πŸ” Privacy Settings: Profile vs. Page

πŸ“± Personal Profiles
By default, Facebook sets the stream visibility to "Only Me" when connecting third-party apps like Castream.
To make your stream visible to others:
  1. Go to Facebook β†’ Settings & Privacy β†’ Settings
  1. Open Business Integrations
  1. Click Castream
  1. Under β€œWho can see you use this business integration?”, switch to:
      • Friends
      • Public
      • Or create a custom audience
If you skip this step, your stream may be working β€” but only you will be able to see it.

πŸ“˜ Facebook Pages
Pages are completely separate from your personal Facebook account's privacy settings.
  • Streams from Pages are public by default
  • No additional privacy tweaks are needed
  • Pages are better suited for:
    • Branded or professional streaming
    • Analytics
    • Monetization (Stars, Ads, Collabs)
    • Comment moderation and audience insights
⚠️ Important:
Facebook requires your Page to be at least 60 days old and have 100+ followers to unlock live streaming.
If your Page is new or below that threshold, the Go Live option will not work β€” Facebook will silently block it.

πŸ”„ Switching Between Profile and Pages

To stream to a different destination:
  1. Go to Settings β†’ Destinations
  1. Tap the Facebook row
  1. Disconnect the current destination
  1. Reconnect and select a different Page or your profile
This is helpful if you manage multiple Pages or want to toggle between public and personal streams.

🧠 Streaming Tips for Facebook

  • Portrait mode works best for mobile-first content or stories
  • Landscape mode is great for wide shots, events, or talking-head videos
  • 720p Standard Bitrate is usually ideal for Facebook’s compression
  • Test using an β€œOnly Me” privacy setting first to preview your setup

⚠️ Known Limitations

  • You can’t stream to Facebook Groups (yet)
  • Facebook may reject streams above 6 Mbps
  • Personal profiles require manual privacy config (Only Me β†’ Friends/Public)
  • New Pages under 100 followers or 60 days old cannot go live
