How to Stream to Instagram and TikTok at the Same Time

How to Stream to Instagram and TikTok at the Same Time

Both of your feeds are vertical. Your stream should be too.

Instagram and TikTok are the two platforms where vertical, phone-shot live video feels native — not like a compromise. The catch is that neither one gives Castream a simple login button. Both connect over RTMP, which means you'll paste a server URL and stream key for each. It sounds technical; it takes about five minutes per platform, and you only do it once.

The short version

  1. Get your Server URL + Stream Key from Instagram (via a third-party RTMP tool or Meta's live producer setup)
  2. Get your Server URL + Stream Key from TikTok's LIVE setup area
  3. Paste both into Castream under Settings → Destinations
  4. Toggle both ON and tap Go Live

Connecting Instagram Live (RTMP)

Instagram doesn't offer a direct Castream login, so this one goes through RTMP:

  1. Set up Instagram Live streaming to get your stream URL and stream key (Instagram issues these through its live video setup for professional accounts and approved tools)
  2. In the Castream app, go to Settings → Destinations
  3. Add Instagram as a destination
  4. Paste your Server URL and Stream Key
  5. Save

Connecting TikTok LIVE (RTMP)

Same pattern, different app:

  1. Open TikTok and go to the LIVE setup area
  2. Find Stream key, Go LIVE from desktop, or Streaming software
  3. Copy the Server URL and Stream Key
  4. In Castream, go to Settings → Destinations → TikTok
  5. Paste both values and save

TikTok only shows RTMP options on accounts with LIVE access — and not every LIVE-enabled account gets RTMP. If you don't see a stream key option, your account doesn't have it yet. Details and workarounds: How to Stream to TikTok LIVE Using RTMP.

Going live on both

  1. Open Castream and tap Go Live
  2. Toggle Instagram ON and TikTok ON
  3. Add a title that works for both audiences
  4. Tap Go Live in Castream
  5. Confirm the broadcast inside TikTok (it usually needs a manual Go LIVE tap) and check your Instagram preview

Shoot in vertical 9:16 (1080 × 1920) — it's the native format for both, so nothing gets cropped or letterboxed. 30 FPS and a stable connection matter more than maxing out bitrate; 2.5–6 Mbps is plenty for phone-shot video.

What to stream on this combo

The Instagram + TikTok pairing shines for content that's visual, personal, and happening right now:

  • Behind the scenes — studio sessions, prep work, packing orders, rehearsals. Both audiences love feeling like insiders.
  • Q&As and hangouts — low-production, high-personality streams do disproportionately well here. You don't need a topic; you need energy.
  • Live shopping and drops — showing a product live, answering questions in real time, dropping a link. This is one of the highest-converting formats on both platforms.
  • Mini-tutorials — makeup, cooking steps, quick repairs, language practice. Teach one small thing per stream and both audiences will follow for the next one.

The common thread: if it works as a Story or a TikTok video, it works as a live stream on this combo. Don't overproduce it — the rawness is the appeal.

Going live from desktop

Prefer OBS? The pattern is the same as any Castream multistream: connect both RTMP destinations in Castream, point OBS at Castream's ingest once, and let Castream forward it.

  1. In Castream Web, confirm Instagram and TikTok are saved under Destinations
  2. Copy your Castream RTMP URL and Stream Key
  3. OBS → Settings → Stream → Service Custom → paste both
  4. Start streaming in OBS
  5. Castream Web → Go Live Dashboard → toggle Instagram + TikTok → Go Live
  6. Confirm inside TikTok as usual

Set OBS to output 1080 × 1920 (vertical) so both platforms get native-format video. The OBS + Castream guide covers the ingest setup in full detail.

Common questions

Do I have to confirm the stream in both apps every time? TikTok almost always wants a manual confirmation inside TikTok before viewers see you. Instagram's behavior depends on how your RTMP access is set up — check the preview before you start talking.

What happens if one platform's stream key expires? You'll go live on the other platform just fine, and the expired one silently won't connect. If Instagram or TikTok stops receiving video, refreshing that platform's stream key in Castream is the first thing to try. Keep both keys somewhere you can re-paste quickly.

Does chat merge? No. Instagram comments and TikTok comments stay on their own platforms. Castream Web's unified chat helps you watch both at once.

How long should I stream? Longer than you think, shorter than a marathon. 45 to 90 minutes is the sweet spot for most creators. Under 20 minutes and neither algorithm has enough signal to push you; past two hours and even loyal viewers drift off.

Two vertical platforms, one vertical stream, zero extra effort after setup. If your content already lives on your phone, this is the easiest multistream combo there is.
