How to Go Live from Your iPhone to Multiple Platforms
How to Go Live from Your iPhone to Multiple Platforms
Your iPhone is already a broadcast studio — great camera, great mic, and a connection that's probably faster than your first apartment's Wi-Fi. With Castream, you can take that camera and send it to YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook Pages simultaneously, all from the Castream iOS app. No laptop, no capture cards, no OBS required.
Here's the full setup, start to finish.
✅ What you need
- An iPhone (any model that runs a recent iOS version works — newer is better for 1080p)
- The Castream app from the App Store
- A Castream account (creating one takes a couple of minutes)
- Accounts on whichever platforms you want to stream to (YouTube, Twitch, etc.)
- A decent connection — check the Wi-Fi vs mobile data guide if you're unsure which to use
📲 Step 1 — Install the Castream app
- Open the App Store on your iPhone
- Search for Castream
- Download and install it
🔐 Step 2 — Sign in
Open the app and sign in with whichever method you prefer:
- Apple — fastest on iPhone, and keeps everything in your Apple ID
- Email & Password (you'll need to verify your email first — check spam if the verification doesn't arrive)
Use the same sign-in method on the Castream website later. One account works across the iOS app, Android app, and web — no duplicate accounts.
When prompted, grant camera and microphone access. The app can't stream without them.
🔗 Step 3 — Connect your destinations
This is the one-time setup that makes multistreaming work. In the app, go to Settings → Destinations. Each platform connects a little differently:
YouTube — connect via OAuth. Sign in with your Google account, authorize Castream, and pick the channel you want to stream to. Full walkthrough here: How to Stream to YouTube Live Using Castream.
Twitch — also OAuth. Tap Twitch, log in, authorize. Details: How to Connect Twitch to Castream via OAuth.
Facebook Pages — connect the Facebook Page you admin (note: Pages, not personal profiles).
TikTok LIVE — this one uses RTMP. Grab your TikTok Server URL and Stream Key from TikTok's LIVE setup area, then paste both into the TikTok destination in Castream. Not every TikTok account has RTMP access, and keys can expire — the TikTok RTMP guide covers the gotchas.
Instagram Live — also RTMP (Server URL + Stream Key). See the Instagram Live via RTMP guide.
Custom RTMP — streaming to Kick, Rumble, LinkedIn, or anything else with an RTMP ingest? Add it as a custom destination with its server URL and stream key.
You only connect each destination once. After that, they're saved and ready to toggle on for any stream.
🎥 Step 4 — Set up your shot
Before going live:
- Pick your orientation. Portrait (vertical) is best if TikTok or Instagram is in your destination mix — that's how their viewers watch. Landscape works better for YouTube and Twitch audiences. Most creators run into this when multistreaming to both: pick the orientation that matches your most important platform.
- Lock it in. Turn on orientation lock so a bump doesn't flip your stream mid-broadcast.
- Frame yourself. Prop the phone up or use a tripod — handheld gets shaky fast, and your viewers will leave before you notice.
- Check your audio. iPhone mics are decent in quiet rooms. In noisy places, wired earbuds or a cheap lavalier mic make a huge difference.
- Preview it. Open your live streaming preview to see exactly what viewers will see.
🔴 Step 5 — Go live
- In the Castream app, toggle ON every destination you want to stream to
- Add your stream title
- Tap Go Live
That's it. Your iPhone's camera feed is now broadcasting to every platform you toggled on, simultaneously. When you're done, tap to end the stream — your recording saves to your Castream profile automatically.
Heads up for TikTok: you may need to confirm the broadcast manually inside TikTok after Castream starts sending video. Watch for the preview in TikTok's LIVE setup and hit Go LIVE there too.
🧠 iPhone-specific tips
- Turn on Do Not Disturb. An incoming call can interrupt your stream. Do Not Disturb (or Focus mode) keeps calls and notifications from hijacking the screen.
- Plug in power. Streaming eats battery fast, and iPhones throttle performance when the battery gets low or hot. A charger and a long cable are cheap insurance.
- Close background apps. Especially anything using the camera, mic, or heavy network in the background.
- Mind the heat. Long streams in direct sunlight will overheat an iPhone and can force-dim the screen or throttle the stream. Shade matters for outdoor IRL streams.
- Use Wi-Fi when you can, but don't fear 5G. A strong 5G signal handles 1080p easily. Test your upload speed before important streams.
- Airplane mode + Wi-Fi is a neat trick: it kills incoming calls entirely while keeping your Wi-Fi connection alive.
✅ Quick checklist
Before every iPhone stream:
- Destinations connected (one-time setup — verify once, then forget it)
- Correct destinations toggled ON for this stream
- Orientation chosen and locked
- Do Not Disturb enabled
- Phone plugged into power
- Upload speed tested (4–6 Mbps for 1080p)
- Preview checked
- TikTok/Instagram RTMP keys fresh (if using them)
📼 After the stream
When you end the broadcast, your recording lands on your Castream profile automatically. From there you can:
- Set the stream to public so it shows on your profile page (
castream.io/@yourhandler), or keep it private - Check the chat message count and chat insights to see how engaged each platform's audience was
- Share the recording link to social media, messages, or WhatsApp
- Delete the recording if the stream wasn't your finest hour
This is also where you'll spot patterns over time — which destinations bring the most chatters, what stream lengths hold attention, and what times work best for your audience. Your profile doubles as a lightweight analytics hub for exactly that.
You're live. Go be interesting 📡
